the 17" wheels typically bend on the inner side of the rim which is basically cantilevered (unsuported by spokes) So even if you increase the number of spokes, you'd still have that very vulnerable inner radius that bends far too often. I got 16" Fondmetal snows with my Viggen which absolutely sucked. Bent everyone of them. My 17" Viggen wheels seem to have lasted a bit longer but I just noticed 2 of them have flat spots (again on the inner rim) and I'm not psyched to put them back on the car this weekend because even though I just put new tread on them, I know they'll vibrate.
Bottom line...I would gladly swap my 17's for 16's if I thought they would no longer bend. But not for Fondmetals!
