SAS bar - which is L and R side (defective bar)?

I just got a used SAS bar. When I put it down on a level floor, the tabs don't seem exactly the same height. Not sure if this is on purpose or a defect. Which side is which or does it matter?
Also, why are the tabs different height? Is this a defect?
Man ... I was going to install this today and check it out later tonight. :-(
Thanks,
Newdude
