HP is torque X rmp. So HP is a high rpm thing if your torque is not falling off. A low restriction air filter with a mod'd air box will help reduce high rmp boost and torque droop.
A 3" duct is much better than a funnel mod. A funnel mod is reversable, a duct job is not... but who cares!
I think that the pressure losses with a long duct are probably not good. Especially if the duct is not smooth. A duct with a decent flair behind the head lamp is probably the least pressure drop. When underway, I can't see that that location would pick up any engine heat.
Forget the HP, you have greatly increased the boost reponsiveness and your Saab is much much faster and fun than stock. On the street responsiveness is more important than a dyno reading. Not also that dyno runs let the IC get very heat soaked as there is no significant air motion. For the same vehicle, the power on the street will be higher than on a dyno.
Dyno runs in 3rd gear take a long time to get through the rpms, this means the IC is really overheated by the time the torque and rpms get multiplied. A water injection system or water spray on the IC will have a comparatively exagerated benefit on a dyno as IC without is so compromized by heat. A larger IC on a dyno will also show a lesser improvment than reality as it does not get enough cooling cross flow.
The best dyno is a timed speed run or the seat of you pants.
