I was experiencing boost well into the red, eventually hitting the fuel cutoff. So off to the shop I went today. Some perhaps useful experiences and insights below ... and one very concerning question for me.
1. Initially the shop couldn't reproduce the problem. So I went to give them a demonstration. To my surprise, I found I couldn't either. That is, until the car (and BPC) warmed up. Then sure enough.
2. We swapped the BPC with a new one. No more overboost, but now max boost was only in mid yellow ... no matter what.
3. We swapped back in my old BPC and a stock air filter (I have a K&N). Oddly enough, it was really hard to trigger the overboost / fuel cutoff. With some careful throttling, however, I did manage to hit it. Interesting to note that the K&N had significantly more airflow ... so much so that the overboost / fuel cutoff problem was virtually hidden by the factory filter.
Ended up putting back in the new BPC + K&N. Unfortunately, I now only have mid-yellow max boost in all gears. :-( The shop is going to research this and I can at least drive the car without scaring the sh%$@t out of my passengers with the fuel cutoff jold.
Does anyone have some suggestions about the mid-yellow boost issue? It's a major bummer. Just last week, my car was running fine ... with the boost needle going right up to the yellow/red border. The car is noticably less quick now ... as the boost gauge would suggest.
Maybe the BPC is for a non-SE? A T7? I was told all BPC/APCs are the same.

PS. The knowledge and input I've gotten from this board were invaluable during test drives / trouble shooting. Having known about the fuel cutoff from all the MBC discussions was really key too of course.
