I have an '01 Viggen that now has 12K miles on it and here's my take (wouldn't be fair for me to comment on the other cars since I don't any personal experience):

Pros: Ultimately unique and good looking - you will only encounter one or two other Viggens a week, if that. Interior is nicer than my living room. If you get the non convertible the hatch is extremely useful and roomy. Engine is really a blast, and the thrill of 3rd gear in this car does not wear off (at least after 12K miles). Fuel efficiency is very good for a rocket like this one. Car will not be made anymore so over time value may persist better than other Saabs. It has a European feel to it, I assume unlike either of the other two cars you mention - really a matter of personal aesthetics, but important to me. Torque steer complaints are a matter of personal driving style - if you race away from every light or stop sign it could be a nuisance, but the car really shines after 2nd gear so that doesn't affect me. I'm used to driving a FWD turbo.

Cons: Ride is very harsh on Atlanta roads (I live there too), and Atlanta roads are probably not that bad wrt other cities that see a lot of snow. As you've read ad nauseum it's a very dated platform that will be replaced in a few weeks with the new 9-3. The manual tranny sucks - I find at least once a week I have to roll the car forward an inch or so to actually get the shifter into 1st, and I do occassionally miss gears due to the notchiness.

If I still had my '98 900SE and was looking to trade up I would probably wait until the '03 Vector level of the 9-3SS is released (early next year?) If you are carless or have a lease running out that may not be an option.

I find the looks of the Acura pretty boring, and friends that have test-driven say "Accord on steroids". I like the G35 exterior looks except for the back-end, but every review says the engine rocks, so that's gotta be worth something.

I really doubt this helps much since I'm not saying anything about the Viggen that you couldn't have seen before - sounds like you need a 3-sided die! 8^)
