Dan,
The factory glues the original pads to the caliper. I guess this helps them install/align faster. The first time you take them off, you'll need a firm wack with a hammer to get them loose. Other than that, very straight forward! I did it just using Dean's advice and it took me about an hour.
I *strongly* urge you to clean and lube every single place where metal touches metal. I didn't do this the first time around and had the squeakiest brakes you ever heard. The slides, the metal clips on the back of the pads. Everything!...except the pads and rotor surfaces, of course.
