I test drove a couple 9-3's in falls church, va (didnt get shot though) last weekend, and the salesman insisted that the best he could do on a 2003 with launch and touring with 5000 down (i know thats high, but i was trying to figure out a lease including my trade in vehicle) would be 412 a month for 36 months/15,000 miles. he said that i might want to wait a few months until the 9-3's arent so new, and maybe they would start having better deals. I agreed and said i have a hard time paying msrp for a saab based on the 2002 incentives, so i will wait.
interestingly, he had a few 2002 9-5 aeros on the lot, and said that he could get me into one for around the same as a new 9-3SS with linear and launch. he said figure on a 36mo/15,000yr lease with 5000 down at about 400/month for the aero. MAN, what a sweet car, that thing hauled a$$, and had the vent seats, which apparently are rare according to the 9-5 board (those things are sweeeeet) but i really dont need that much car, and am looking to spend in the low to mid 300's for a lease for my next car with my trade which i hope i will get about 4000 for, so either ill wait for a better deal on the 9-3, try to find a 2002 9-5 linear that a dealer is wanting to ditch fast, or go with another company (ill miss saab though!).
Hope this helps somewhat, if not, i apologize.
Regards,
Brian.
P.S. whats the deal with car salesmen being so damned young?? I'm 23, and of the last 4 dealers ( all different makes) that i have visited, 3 of the salesmen have been younger than me??? sorry, but my stereotype of car salesmen has been 40 somethings with lots of cheap gold jewlery and slicked back hair, not young single guys trying to work things out with their girlfriends (why they share with me these details of their lives is beyond me, maybe the guidance counselor in me draws it out of them?? :)
