and basically this is what happens----car is driven at high speeds,fully warmed up, then parked overnight. 4th gear synchronizer ring is a little bit too tight and as it cools off it sticks to the gear, thus engaging 4th gear. Next morning when you start the car and put it into reverse to back out of your garage, the car is effectivly in two gears at once and --BANG--- the 4th gear sync pops loose. No real damage done to the trans, just kind of annoying. I had a 98 se that did this in cool weather--changing the trans fluid to redline MTL helped a little but It was not a big enough problem to me to tear apart the trans and fix it. The car had about 40 k on it when I sold it, the current owner now has about 75k on it and has never noticed the problem.
