...I would come out with a much improved car (mechanical-wise) and a boring exterior. Wait, that's exactly what they did! The press is finally looking beyond quirky and writing about the actual car. Once Saab can develop it's mainstream stonghold (and get those Audi and BMW drivers to actually *consider* the car), *then* Saab can start making avant garde designs again.
I suspect that when the 9-3SS is refreshed (say, in 2005), Saab won't have to make significant mechanical changes, but they'll spend their time on making sheet metal changes. *Then* we will all be proud to call ourselves Saab Afficianados again.
Can you imagine if you were a Saab designer? You get to create cool things like the 9-X, and then have to be constrained to things like the 9-3SS? might as well go work for Buick!
