I hate bashing a mechanic, and goodness knows I have done my share of it. So lets move away from that topic and consider:
I have tried to keep up on your threads, but please assist me with a couple things.
Year and present Mileage ? Manual 5 speed ? or Auto tranny ?
Spark plugs ? NGK's ? Recent ? BCPR6ES preferred (or BCPR7ES ) ?
Gap @ 0.037-0.039 " ?
Gas presently in the tank ? Brand and octane ?
When was the last time you put in a full bottle of Techron in your tank ?
Battery ? Over 3 years old ? Maintained well ? Connections secure on its terminals ?
Top it up with distilled water, and put in on a HOME-STYLE battery charger (6 or 8 amps ) for 60 to 90 minutes in the "manual" mode --NOT the AUTO mode.
NOT THE 40 amp FOOT-LOCKER style charger at the dealership. Borrow a home charger from a friend if you have to.
Spiking idle after a cold soak can be 2-3 things: IAC valve needs to removed and cleaned with spray carb cleaner AND the throttle body/throttle plate needs the same thing ( spray carb cleaner into it and clean it with an old toothbrush).
The third thing is a vacuum leak. Painfully check all vacuum lines.
Now for the boost issue: disconnect the electrical lead to the BPC and go drive the car. Now, hammer the gas---the needle should go no farther than midway. Now reconnect the electrical lead and go drive it. Hammer it again, and keep it floored on a slight incline in 5 th gear at 45 mph and ride it out to 75 mph or so. Do it several times. Obviously exercise caution.
Now, how is it boost-wise ? Better ? About-the -same ? Worse ?
The warm-up issue you'll have to wait 6-8 hours, overnight is best, to re-test.
The IAC will not show a Tech2 code if it only needs a cleaning. My other concern is if your mechanicwill swap-out the BPC with a new one so you can test it. You typically do not get a CEL on a failed or failing BPC.
The DI tested ? On TECH 2 or upside down "on-the-car" ?
Now you've got a task list to run on for a little while.
Please repost back to me when you can.
Thanks.
