Clear protection on paint and detailing Posted by Vic [Email] (#2192) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Vic) on Mon, 13 Jan 2003 20:27:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
As I understand it, Saab applies some sort of clear overlay on top of the finish on their cars. (I am not referring to a traditional clear coat applied over the metallic or color coat.) On both the Saabs I've owned, it was peeling off in places, revealing the paint beneath.
My question is, with traditional methods for removing scratches and swirl marks, how does this clear protective layer factor in? Can it be polished as regular paint can? Is there any point to waxing a Saab if you're just applying wax to a layer of clear plastic?
