All that yelling . . .
And RobertT's not reponding. (what does that tell you?)
Use whatever you want to use, & I'll do the same. As will everyone else here. But don't yell, & don't take specs out of context to make them fit your arguments.
So which is it: Owner's manuals or TSBs? When you don't like what the TSB says, you quote the Owner's manual. Or, as in this case, you now prefer to quote the TSB. Or only parts of it. It says both GM-LL-A-025 & ACEA A3. Don't tell me A3's necessary on the semi syn but not on the full. That's ludicrous. Both Saab 0W-30 & M1 0W-40 meet GM-LL, but only the 0W-40 also meets A3. And remember the previous TSB you got rabid over? It says that recommended oils meet both API **AND** ACEA specs, just like this new one does.
And state your POV for once. I've said repeatedly that my goals are protection, economy & conservation. But you never come right out & say what you feel: that the "minimum required" is all you're willing to do. That's your choice, & many agree with it. But no one deserves to be slammed because they want better than "basic" protection for what's probably the second-biggest investment they've ever made.
Lighten up; it's only oil.
