Driving to work today and noticed a gentle buck when cruising in fourth gear. Just a single jerk, like when one backs off heavy throttle quickly but leaving in gear without pressing clutch in. Thinking this is odd, I pushed clutch pedal in while rolling to find the tach zipping up to 4K rpm then down to about 1K followed by a steady bouncing action from 1K to just under 2K on the tach. Stopping at a light with the clutch pedal in finds one staring at a tach that zooms to 4K and hangs out pretty consistently vs the bouncing while rolling. This is consistently reproduceable at this point. Car does not accelerate on its own when one backs off throttle, gears do drag the spead down (producing the gentle buck felt initially).

All righty then, odd indeed.

Ignition off provides no change. Restarted to find the same symptoms.

Boost is fine (tipping red under hard accel in third gear & up), motor is running fine except for these new dips in throttle depending on full stop or rolling after acceleration with clutch pedal pressed in. No errors on SID or CE light at this time, other gauges read normal too. No odd noises from motor.

Stop at a grocery to run in for coffee and return (fifteen minutes or less). Return & start car, idle is slightly high (1.2K or so) but no bounce as before. Slight buzzing noise that seems to come from right hand side (cannot hear under hood, just inside of the cabin). CE light is now on (Wahoo! Error codes are always good!). Car drives normally.

Tonight's drive home much the same, CE light is on and idle is almost normal (about 1K at a stop). Good boost, etc, gauges normal. No discernible buzz in the cabin as noticed in the A.M.

Other items of note, mileage was dropping (19.4 currently, down from norm at 21+ 'ish city), new plugs gapped @ 1mm (haven't checked DI yet), and random but regular "burps" or "stumbles" at idle (doesn't stall, just a gentle hiccup).

No mods outside of Forge valve at the moment (working fine & hoses look good).

Any thoughts?

I am thinking MAF based on a previous post noting little stumbles at idle and then hanging RPM's (no mention of the bouncing though).

Off to the dealer for repair tomorrow but wondered what others thought so I compare to what dealer reports.
