This is normal for a turbocharged engine. When on boost, the engine runs rich to help prevent predetonation or 'knock'. This results in some soot and hence the black residue on the tailpipe.
Your gas mileage may be a little bit low. Could be the reformuated 'winter' gasoline. If you are a DIY person, a change of spark plugs wouldn't hurt. Use copper core NGK BCPR6ES plugs gapped to 0.036"-0.038", typically available for less than $2 each.
