I just settled a lemon law case on my 2002 Rover and decided to buy a 9.3.
On Friday afternoon I visited the first of 3 Saab Dealers in my area to see where deals would shake out. Dealer #1 offered me $2500 factory rebate and $1000 discount off list. MSRP on the car I was pricing was 32,820. I visited dealer #2 and they didn't even mention the $2500 factory rebate but discounted the MSRP by $810. I confronted the salesman @ the $2500 and he looked astonished. I walked out of the showroom expecting him to chase me but he waited 30 minutes and called my house saying that they's match the price of Dealer #1 but by then I was enroute to Dealer #3. I still haven't called him back as Slimballs deserve no respect.
I was fortunate enough to be assigned a young, knowledgeable and seemingly straight forward saleman at Dealer #3. I explained to him that I wanted to buy a car today and he was the third dealer I visited. I told him what I wanted to pay and it was his deal to loose. He not only discussed the $2500 but asked if I owned any GM products as there was an additional $1000 he could offer me. I don't so that was a short story. When we shook hands I was pleased as the final price was $28,607.
I've owned everything from Porsches to Mercedes to Toyotas and Volvos, this is my first Saab and I must say I am very impressed. The 9 3 IMO represents one of the greatest values in the marketplace. Assuming the repair frequency is low I look forward to an enjoable ownership experience.
