The problem is, the rears in the 9-3SS are weak Pioneer 3.5" speakers that don't even have tweaters, and don't even think about bass. There is a spot in the rear deck for 6x9" speakers, I heard Infinity Kappa's fit well, but you won't be able to get any bass out of them because of a crossover that sends bass to the front doors. I replaced the little speakers with high-end coaxial Pioneers of the same 3.5" size. They perform well because I accepted the fact that the Saab system sends mids and highs to the rear and bass to the front, as screwed up as it is. The only way to get around it; find the crossover and cut it out of the system, buy an amplifier and 6x9's and have it power the rears. In otherwords, take your car to a high quality stereo shop and prepare to write a large check. Otherwise do what I did, hope that the speculative software upgrade that is suppose to improve the stereo system actually works.
