Another AM Radio Question

I think there should be an entire board dedicated to radio problems. Here's mine: My AM radio reception is poor (at best) when the engine is on. When I turn the engine off but leave the power on for the radio, the AM reception is much, much better. I would appreciate any advice on how to correct this so I can listen to the radio when the car is actually moving.
