i considered the same thing. ended up removing the boston 3.5" i had in the dash and replaced them with the tweeter of the 6.5 pro. please post your results if you try this.
IMO - it shouldn't sound right. i base this on the design of component type speakers; that the system is designed to give a nearly-flat frequency response. response of the midbass should slope off right where tweeter response ramps up. if another speaker were added, i'd think that would upset the balance. this isn't always true though, as the response of your car may require a boost in that range. i don't think that's the case though, as my components sound pretty balanced.
now, if you constructed your own x-over ( of the 3-way type ) like some of the manufacturers now make, i think there are possibilities. but that's beyond the scope of your post, besides.... i've only read about this and have no REAL knowledge to impart on that topic.
