Well, ok :-) Working from a bit from momory. It reads more complicated than it really is. I've tried to detail every step. Prolly' took me about 20 mins. per side to remove, and another 10 to put back. Now that I know what I'm doing I could do much faster :-)
To remove the rear panels for a '99 9-3 convertible...
NOTE: Don't try to remove the seat belt "dome." It is part of the panel and does not come off separately..
1) Lower the top.
2) Move the front seats all the way forward ( more room..)
3) Remove the rear seat bottom. There are no screws, it just is held down by two snaps on each side. Just firmly lift up on the edge of the seat bottom and it will pop out. Now clean out all the junk that's been hiding down there for years.. :-) Now remove the two twist-style fasteners that the seat was hiding..
3) Pop up the front door kick-panel trim. (You know, the one that says SAAB across it.) There is a twist-type fastener in the back, the rest of it is just held on by pop-on fasteners. You need to remove this to make clearance for the rear panel..
4) Remove the plastic clip in the door jam that is hiding a Torx (T30?) screw. Carefully pull away the rubber trim and pop it out. Remove the screw.
5) Fold the rear seat back down. (You must use your key, remember?) This will reveal another twist-style fastener and a Torx screw. Remove both.
6) I suppose you could do this without removing the front seat-belt anchor, but I figured it would get in the way, so I undid it. Pop off the plastic bolt cover and remove the front seat belt anchor bolt. I think it's a 17 or 19mm. Remove the bolt and it's sleeve. Remember the way the anchor metal faces, you want to put it back in the same direction.
7)With a very small flat-hear screwdriver (or similar,) pop out the "eye" light in the rear seat belt "dome". Unhook the wires and set it aside.
8) Ok, the panels ready to come off. All that's left holding it are one or two pop on fasteners that are located on the "top" side of the panel, one near the seat belt dome, and another near the back. Carefully pull up on the panel and it should come free. It may take a little jostling, but it should loosen up. Once you have it free, feed the seat belt and buckle thru the slot. Set the door panel aside.
9) The speaker is attaced to a metal bracket. You need to remove the speaker/bracket combo first, then you can access the speaker mounting bolts.
10) IITROR
Hope this helps. Good luck!
