Since the bulletin that Taliaferro posts says to do 3 drain/fills, I imagine that there's some incompatibility of the new & old fluid. Otherwise Saab would be telling their dealers to save time (=$$) by only doing one. I'm kinda curious about verifying if this is true...
I have mixed feelings about your #7. For me, the shifting issues are really minor, not enough to get mad about. If they don't do mine for free, I'll do it myself someday. It's like buying a '00 and expecting Saab to install TCS because, ya know, it was standard the following year...
But when someone has real problems, I'm a little dissapointed that lots of dealers don't even know about the new oil.
now for the important stuff...
I drove a 6-speed Vector when JJ from Towell Saab brought a demo to a picnic several weeks ago. Gawd I love that car. Yes the shifter feels better, more well-defined or something. The one on our '01 feels like it uses way-too-soft rubber bushings. Kinda makes me want to get polyurethane bushings for the shift linkage.
I've never driven a normal fwd car that has a better shifter then the one in my Integra GS-R. Honda seems to know how to do that... But I drove a Subaru WRX and it was way better yet. Go check one of those out to see what you're missing.
