I've *got* to get some pictures of the install in '99 9-3 conv. I think it works very nicely.
The flooring has been replaced with carpet covered wood, raising it about half an inch. This allows notching space to seat a sub cabinet and amp as well as run wires underneath.
Two, IDQ 10" dvc subs (they're very happy with .5 cu ft each!) both in one partitioned cabinet. This custom sealed enclosure starts all the way toward the seat with the speakers facing the rear with a slight angle up. The height just clears the bottom of the cloth bag (must not touch!) and only takes about half the width of the trunk. The other half of the trunk width is a large a/d/s PowerPlate p4100 amp laying flat on the floor. It's surrounded by a frame to prevent being bumped, but doesn't come further out than the cloth bag. It's nice that all I loose is the space under the cloth bag. There is space above the amp, but amps need air to stay cool.
The whole configuration can be disassembled easily enough in case of a flat.
I've got 100 watts per side for the front stage CDT components, the rear speakers run off the head unit's power and two channels of the a/d/s bridge @ 350 watts for the subs.
The sound quality is exceptional, very present, punctual low end - even with all that sound proofing material (the rag top) folded up in the trunk.
There're lots of amps to choose from. The PowerPlate is a large one and it fits.
