front strut noise - diagnosis help? Posted by MikeMc [Email] (#2446) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MikeMc) on Fri, 10 Oct 2003 13:02:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've got a front suspension clunk that I'm trying to diagnose.
It is most noticable when I turn into my driveway....slow speed, low bump, one tire at a time. It is a very hard "clunk....clunk". Boths sides now do it. Regular driving is fine.
I have been under the car and all lower bushings and the ball joints look ok. Sway bar bushings are ok.
The top nuts on the struts and mounts are tight. (I did upgrade to Eibach springs and Koni shocks about a year ago.)
I'm thinking it is in the parts at the top of the strut, below the top mount.
Any comments about wear noises in this area? What are the symptoms of the top strut bearings going?
Thanks,
Mike
