it is awfully coincidental that the 02 sensor failed after the exhaust system was repalced(which i assume involves removing the sensor and then reinstaling on the new exhaust) but a failing sensor in a 7 year old car is not unheard of. did the dealer etc actually look at your car to determine that the installer was at fault? if they did and can provide you with some documentation to support that ( or you can see that the sensor was mangled in some grossly incompetent way ) i would plead my case with the repair guy and consider small court claim( if you have the time and energy) or better business complaint if you do not get a satisfactory response. as for repair i would check it's not something simple like a loose connection on the sensor, you can probably buy a new one online or at t a parts store for 1/2 the repair cost and might be a simple unbolt /bolt.
