The other day the check engine light and TCS off came on in my 9-3. I drove the car home, less than 10 miles or so, but could not accelerate over 30 miles. On Saturday, I had it towed to the dealer where they diagnosed it as requiring a software upgrade. I questioned them to no avail as to how it could only be a software upgrade. When I went to pick up the car yesterday (after the upgrade and 30,000 maintenance service), the service person came forward and indicated that when he started the car, check engine light came back on and they need to keep the car.
This morning, the dealer claimed it was the throttle body and said that he changed it. They offered to drive it to my workplace (12 miles or so). Before I could go and accept the car, I got a call indicating that while waiting outside the building, the car started to overheat. It is being towed back to the dealer.
I recommended that they check the thermostat in the engine. I also asked them to do that yesterday, but they said they go based on what the computer tells them to do.
ANY IDEAS as to what else they should look for??
Your suggestions would be appreciated.
