That is interesting that your manual specs the platinum plugs. My '99 has a manual for all 9-3s and then a supplemental for the Viggen. The main manual doesn't have the B235R motor specs at all, but the supplemental book specs NGK BCPR6ES plugs. I even remember my tech back in San Diego commenting on how the copper plugs worked a lot better than platinums with the "plug acting as sensor" features of the T7.
For some reason I vaguely remember that the '99 had a slightly different ECU than later Viggens, so maybe that has something to do with it. I'd ask my current tech (no longer in San Diego), but frankly I just don't trust their knowledge of the Viggen any farther than what their repair manual tells them to do. Sadly there's no one else in town that would be any better since I've got the only Viggen in the city.
In any case, hopefully JChristopher's car is getting fixed to run like it should. If they can do that, and keep it running that way, it probably doesn't really matter which plugs they ended up using, right?
