The anteanna is extending becuase it is being told to by a 12v lead. Its possible that they may have hooked up the "remote" or "aux" lead from the deck to the pre-existing anteanna wire. The "Remote" lead normally sends out 12V at turn on to alert an amp to power up. Id take it back and mention this to your installer. At least have them verify that they have it right.
However, it is possible that your deck raises the anteanna at power up as well, independent of what input is selected. Most will only raise at TUNER selection. Check your owners manual if you have it.
