I added Dynamat to the interior door panels of my 2000 9-3, as described in Richard Bervan's NG900/9-3 Audio Guide on this site and have not noticed any problems. But then I have never needed my side airbags to deploy either. I did not notice any sensor near where I installed the Dynamat in the door panels. I suppose if you put Dynamat on the interior of the outer metal skin of the doors you might have a problem, but putting it inside the removable door panels has worked fine for me.
