I researched this and related issues recently having just acquired a 2001 Laser Red Viggen coupe (love the coupes and wanted an '01 or '02 due primarily to the traction control feature).

My apologies if this is somewhat off-topic or redundant but the following represents what I found.

Viggen colors by production year:
MY 1999...Lightening blue, and some black, and some yellow....
MY 2000...Lightening blue, Black, Silver, and yellow....
MY 2001...Black, Silver, Laser Red, and Steel Grey....
MY 2002...Black, Silver, Laser Red, and Steel Grey.....

Number of Viggens in different colors (from: http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/9-3/index.html?bID=89811):
Black-922
Yellow-68
Silver-458
Blue-504
Red-206
Steel gray-774

Body styles (from: http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/9-3/index.html?bID=67552):
1999: 3-door > 426

2000: Convrt > 245
2000: 3-door > 138
2000: 5-door > 421

2001: Convrt > 738
2001: 3-door > 129
2001: 5-door > 285

2002: Convrt > 322
2002: 3-door > 71
2002: 5-door > 157

Totals: 1999 = 426 2000 = 804 2001 = 1,152 2002 = 550
Totals: 3-door = 764 5-door = 863 Convrt = 1,305

What I have been unable to discover, however (via this site or by calling Saab USA) is the number of Viggens in a given body style *and* color for a particular year. For instance, how many Laser Red coupes were produced in 2001?
