I think it's worth. I got a 01 9-3 for 3.5 years and I got the head gasket, DI Cassette, and some minor stuffs fixed and replaced. Most Saabs are reliable but they may have minor problems. If you buy a used car and but a 3rd party extended warranty, it is going to cost you more (somewhere from $1000 - $3000 and you have to pay deductible for each visit too).
At first, I thought CPO was not worth. After I knew more about the program, I think it is worth. The dealer will not certify a car is it is in bad condition. If they "off-lease" car is bad, the dealer wil not take it. They probably send it to auction. If the condition of the car is still good, they can recondition it. With COP, you got a nice used car with the "almost as good as the original bumper to bumper manufacturer warranty". Why should you put yourself at risk ?
