After reading these posts, I set out to find a substitute locally.
I started at a high end car stereo store, figuring I had a high end car. The guy there suggested the dealership.
Then I tried Circuit City. The guy there told me that O' Reilly's and AutoZone sell "stuff like that."
The one from O'Reilly's cost $3.59. It's a couple inches shorter than the Viggen one, and about 3/8 inch around all the way to the end. It came with several connectors. The connector designed for Japanese cars had the right threads, but I had to cut it off with a hack saw. It is not quite as rigid as the original, but it looks OK.
I will probably tear the old, bad rubber off the original one and put back some black heat shrink tubing. I'd have done that already, but I can't find my heat gun, and I didn't feel like spending $70 at Home Depot to replace it.
My next quest: a $15 heat gun.
Best regards,
Dave
