Did this in my dad's Maxima a number of years back. It was a smaller deer, and it ended up hitting the left front corner, got picked up, went over the hood, over the windshield, and over the roof of the car before rolling off into the ditch. I remember getting out of the car and not thinking the damage was that bad (it was night time), until I saw damage going all the way from the front left all the way to almost the trunk.
Same deal... deer hair all over the place, and a large clump of flesh and hair where the driver's side mirror used to be.
Insurance company ended up covering repairs. Driver's door has never been the same since.
