What's up with my brakes?

First of all, thanks to Randy Thatcher, who I talked to in chat a week ago, for giving me some ideas on un-sticking the rusted pins in my rear brakes. On his recommendation, I picked up some PB Blaster, and I used a vice grip to twist the pins free. I also found that the easiest way to get the pins out, once the PB has done its work, is to grip them with the vice grips, and then hit the vice grip near the pin with a hammer. This avoids denting the end of the pin with your punch or screwdriver, and it allows you to hit harder since you don't have to worry about missing the small pointy end of the pin.
Now, on to my question. I replaced my rear pads today because I could hear a scraping sound coming from the right rear that sounded like a 100% worn pad. It was. Here's what I found on the pads:
right rear outer: 1/4" left
right rear inner: no pad left, some metal removed from pad backing
left rear outer: 1/2" left
left rear inner: 1/4" left
Is it normal to see such uneven wear? I don't think I have a stuck caliper; I pulled on the e-brake line on each side to see what happened, and everything sprang back afer I released it. I replaced the front pads about 5000 miles ago, and everything had worn pretty evenly. What's going on here?
