Saab will bear the ultimate cost for this pathetic automotive folly. That they apparently haven't developed a permanent fix for what is really a serious safety issue is inexcusable. I expect few existing Saab owners will buy another one, and I believe most of us would not have bought these cars had we been aware of the DI issue. Buying the Subaru derivative might be your best shot at good reliabiilty within the Saab brand. If most of us abandon Saab like I predict we will, the Saab brand will probably be divested by GM or perhaps find a role as GM's luxury brand in Europe -- note that they are already focusing on Cadillac models in their effort to compete with BMW, Mercedes, etc. in the U.S. market. Is there much reason to be optimistic about Saab's ability to compete in the U.S. market in the years to come???
