The original post from yesterday is here:

Thanks to Chris Floyd for some help, but my car is still dead. Here's the recap: It stalled yesterday as I got on the freeway. Then it wouldn't start. I still have power, lights, etc...but it wouldn't even turn over. I had it towed back to my place. I tried to clutch start it a couple times and it got going for about 5 seconds each time before stalling out. I checked out the battery and it was really low. So I charged it overnight and it took a charge. And still nothing. I hooked up a different battery. Still won't turn over.
So I'm at the end of my rope. Fuses are good, DI has 18K miles and no foul smell, plugs are good. I'm getting the "ding dong" warning to look at the display, but there's no CEL...but the battery light is illuminated.
It could have been an alternator problem that stalled me out, but it won't even turn over with a new battery. That could indicate a starter problem, but a starter problem wouldn't cause me to stall out while driving. Maybe they both went? Maybe it's something electrical that encompasses them both?
I had some AC lines worked on last week, and I put new front pads on a few days ago. I was also digging around replacing the MTL two weeks ago. Is it possible something got jostled? I'm desperate here. My wife is dropping hints about pushing the car over a cliff if it costs us any more money.
