covers. That might be the trick.
As far as clearance, actually between the door trim and the mounting cup is a little bit of space and that was what the foam ring was for, to seal that gap for better audio performance. If that doesn't work, I'm going to take a Dremel to that flange and cut it down so that it fits.
More updates to follow.
Oh, one last Q: while taking the door panel off, I had a helluva time with those mirror covers. Never did get them off. Without breaking them, what's the trick in removing? If it just snaps on, that's fine, but >>man!<< that thing is tight...
