I was hosting a club Fun Run -- 5 Saabs in a caravan blasting through the back roads at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. Stopped for doing 72 in a 45.

I put the sport coat and tie on and went to court. I was the last in the morning session and was the ONLY one who dressed up. I told the judge precicely what happend, that it was a club drive, and were enjoying the great roads in his county, and took my lumps (LOTS of BS excuses throughout the morning before my case).

Judge came back with: Traffic school one weekend, pay the $145 fine and a thank you for being honest and giving him a load of crap. (Previous case had less speed, but a LOT of BS and wound up spending a Saturday in jail -- the kid was racing another kid who was the case immediately preceeding his...).

I thanked the judge, and as I was leaving, the judge commented,"We do have great roads out here, don't we?"

I thought that was pretty cool for him to mention that.... :-)

Oh, btw, no one else got a ticket in our group. Just me...
