I suspect the problem is almost sure electrical. If the control lights in the instrument go dim when your car stalls, suspect the ignition switch first. I need to change mine soon (1996, 900S). To fix it I temorarily wired a switch between fuse 33 (permanent Live 12V) and fuse 17 (ignition coil etc.). When the lights go dim with ignition on the voltage at fuse 17 only reads 5V. When the switch is behaving OK the voltage should read 12V. The current through fuse 17 with ignition on is about 2A which should not put too much strain on the switch. I suppose the inductive load of the ignition coil will when the switch is turned on and off in the long term.
Other possibilities are the main and fuel pump relays, the fuel pump itself, electrical connector need cleaning on various sensor, CPS sensor. Stalling 900NG problems are covered a lot in this forum.
