I have a 99 SE and have been pondering how a "locked" Pioneer CD Changer that was never properly divorced from the donor vehichle might be able to be recovered and reinstalled.
If I get help from my Indy technician & his TECH II would this procedure work to get the changer properly divorced so that it could be connected?
At this point this is just a theory, and you would need both vehichle's VIN numbers and four digit radio security codes. I wouldn't recommend trying this because again, this is just a theory, but might it work?
1.) Go to the Audio System Menu & divorce the vehicle's current radio head unit. (the head unit is now "divorced")
2.) Disconnect the head unit.
3.) Go to the DICE menu and change the vehicle's VIN to the VIN which matches the CD Changer (the donor vehicle's VIN).
4.) Reattach the head unit.
5.) Go to the Audio System Menu and "marry" the unlocked head unit to the car, now matching the CD Changer's VIN a.k.a. the donor vehicle's VIN).
6.) Enter the four digit security code corresponding to the donor vehicle's head unit.
7.) Attach the CD Changer.
8.) Both the head unit and the CD Changer should now be unlocked and fully functional.
9.) Go to the Audio System Menu & "divorce" the vehicle's CD Changer. (the CD Changer is now "divorced")
10.) Disconnect the CD Changer.
11.) Go to the Audio System Menu & "divorce" the vehicle's head unit. (the head unit is now "divorced")
12.) Disconnect the head unit.
13.) Go to the DICE menu and change the vehicle's VIN back to the original VIN.
14.) Reattach the head unit.
15.) Go to the Audio System Menu and "marry" the unlocked head unit to the car to match the vehicle's original VIN.
16.) Enter the four digit security code corresponding to the vehicle's original head unit.
17.) Reattach the CD Changer.
18.) Go to the Audio System Menu and "marry" the CD Changer to the head unit & car using the vehicle's original VIN.
19.) Both the head unit and the CD Changer should now be unlocked and fully functional.
This seems realistic to me. Has anybody ever tried this? Might temporarily changing the true vehichle VIN in the DICE do irrepairable damage to any of the car's other systems?
Thanks!
