The car is a 2000 viggen with 150,000 miles.
The symptom: intermittently, only when it rains, but not every time it rains, the AC compressor shuts down. The harder or longer the rain, the more likely the symptom will occur. The ACC panel shows I am still in "auto" mode, not in "econ," but after the compressor stops running it quickly gets hot and steamy inside the car. It can actually be a safety hazard, since the windows fog up.
If the rain stops, the compressor will usually not start up again on its own, unless and until I shut the engine off and restart it.
My eternal gratitude will go to the person who can diagnose this problem, and even more so if there's a quick and easy fix.
Thanks and best regards,
Dave
