Beck Arnley manual adjust clutch cable revisted

I had a chance, while searching for a replacement for my Napa manual adjust clutch cable, to examine a Beck Arnley manual adjust cable - it was identical to the NAPA. The NAPA was way too short for my car, and did not allow the clutch to engage all the way.
Oddly enough the B-A appeared to be even shorter, which suggests that quality control is not great and may reponsible for the varying results people have been reporting here with these cables. B-A's price on it was also a few dollars more than Napa's.
It's listed in the B-A catalog as a direct OEM-quality replacement part - nothing is said about it being a manual rather than auto adjust cable, nor are their any directions with either even to tell the installer or car owner that it, unlike the stock one, must be adjusted when installed, and regularly thereafter.
I ended up at the Saab dealer where I got a stock one for $47, using a business name to get the discount.
