A suspension upgrade was made half way thru the 1995 year b/c of incurable steering wheel shimmy at highway speeds in 1994-1995.5 models. The upgrade is about $600 if it already has not been done.
Also if it's a 5-speed there's a shift linkage update to the 1996 and later style, which removes some of the slop from the shifter and prevents linkage failure.
Other common issues with these cars are the plastic tensioner pulleys for the serpentine belt last about 30-50K each...they start by making noise when cold, then they break and leave you stuck. Also the Secondary Air Injection system valve cracks and you get a hissing sound at startup...in the 1995 cars you can just disconnect the SAI system, it's just for early startup emissions reduction, or you can fix it of course.
The sludge issue is a concern, so make sure it has a good oil change history, but not as much of a concern as the later NG900 and 9-3 when they moved the catalytic converter to right under the engine. Also the 2.3L motors shear teeth off the balance chain cogs, which get stuck in the oil pump, which destroys the engine. Doesn't happen on all of them, but it seems to be linked to poor oil change history.
