Well, this is a very difficult question since it involves another shops work and what they might have or have not done.
Problems created maybe by someone else is a lot harder to find than the standard problems the car itself comes up with
Disconnected or wrongly connected vacuum hoses.
Misaligned camshafts.
Low compression due to badly overheated engine and loss of tension in the piston rings.
Keep in mind that the mechanic working on the car might have been a trainee so just about anything could be wrong and if he is also the one looking at it now, it is no guarantees he will find it either.
Is there any fault codes or check engine light on?
