I like Mobil clean 7500. Synthetic blend. Used to be called high mileage. I have been using it for a quite a while (maybe 50k miles) on my 1996 900S. Switched to a high detergent oil when I read about sludge. Didn't want to do a sludge treatment either - too risky.
It has seal conditioners and extra detergent. This is key. My thought is the extra detergent will slowly remove sludge. Save $ off full synthetic and in an old car like mine I didn't want to risk leaks - as some report.
I change at 6-8k miles. Usually add a new quart after 3k miles.
Use a good filter - mobil 1 seems nice. old delcos with valve if you can find them or Saab but recently gotten cheaper.
Only down side is it is hard to find and hard to find on sale. Walmart only carries Mobil 5000 and Mobile 1. They used to carry the predecessor to Mobil 7500 but stopped. so I end up paying full price at Autozone ~$3-3.50 quart.
