That's all true, but the car DOES call for 90 octane. Which is at least mid-grade or better.
The T-7 can sense knock & back off the boost & spark, but I wouldn't make a habit of burning 87. Speaking of knock, the T-7 senses knock through the spark plugs. Are you using NGK proper-spec plugs? They seem to have issues with other brands.
60k is kinda early for an O2 sensor to go out, but it's not unheard-of. Seems like that wouldn't be related to the other stuff.
