My head gasket has leaked for at least 10 years, I'll get it fixed one day. Put some leak stopper stuff in and use high mileage oil at your next oil change.

vacuum leaks are usually just worn vacuum hoses, to replace them all in the engine bay will cost like $5 in hoses. I guess it depends on where the vacuum leak is?

Don't know what the used market is on 12 year old cars, mine starts, runs great and smooth, a/c hasn't worked in years, but I can smoke cigars in it and put stickers on the trunk and who cares about all the dings and the faded paint and whether I wash it every week (year)?

I guess I'm trying to say is it depends on what you're using it for, whether $2k is a lot and you need it to be dependable, and whether you need every little thing to be in place and working before you pull away from the curb.
