How can these two things be related (sort of long) Posted by Dan [Email] (#2459) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Dan) on Tue, 28 Aug 2007 13:44:22 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So I've had the Rear Brake Light Failure indicator as well as the rear light failure alerts on the SID on for a little while now. I had some bulbs floating around my trunk, so I decided to give one of those a whirl, but it didn't solve my brake light issue and instead, caused my headlights to come one whenever I depressed the brake. During this time, I also noticed that the boost gauge would not go into the yellow at all. So, I finally got a moment to change out the bulbs, so I drove to the parts store and tested the turbo again, and the gauge still wouldn't go into the yellow. I replaced all 4 rear bulbs which alleviated the issue with the headlights coming on when I hit the brake pedal. On the way out of the lot, I noticed a little extra pick up in the car, and sure enough, the boost is back to normal.
How can the brake light failure cause the turbo to not work? How can these possibly be related? I checked before bulbs, and no dice, after bulbs, works great.
