Thanks for that info Mike...I read it too, but thought perhaps it was a misprint...just wanted a Saab guy to confirm it for me.
The rebuild:
I started the assembly of the heads today..installed the nice clean lifters (submerged them in oil and pumped them a few times to get some oil in them first) in the rear head and installed the intake cam.
Now I see what I did not do. I did not realize that the cam sprockets have slots that the pin in the cam fits into. I don't know why it's that way, but it is what it is. This configuration (unfortunatly) allows the sprocket to be installed in either of 2 positions (obviously only one is correct) 180 degrees apart. I have the motor at 60 degrees BTDC.
Now I'm going to have to figure the timing out the hard way, unless someone here knows what I have to do to get it set up correct. (I see part numbers on the cams...just wondering it they should be on the top when motor is at TDC) It's gonna take a little bit more time than I thought, but in the end it I know it will be right.
