Clunk: Worn Sway Bar Links?

Hi. How would I know if I have worn sway bar links? On passenger side front wheel, there is a nasty clunk over speed bumps, or little potholes even (especially easy to reproduce when turning left).
It's a 1999 9-3SE with 95k miles on it.
I just took a quick look at them, visual only as I have limited tools at the house I'm staying at right now. I would have removed them except that, according to Dip, the top nut is 13mm (it's not, mine is 18mm!) and the bottom nut should be 11mm, (it's not, mine is 12mm). Is there anything fishy about that or did they change the links in 1998-1999? In any case, how would I know.
I was thinking about changing the struts, mounts, bearings, and bushings just to get this klunk out... wonder if all that is necessary though?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
TomL, Portland, OR
