I found the answer for those of who don't want to wait a few weeks.
Hit the clear button and the message will go away. Hit and hold the clr button. After about 8 sec you will hear a beep and the SID will say cleared, keep holding the button until it says service, another few seconds after that . The "time for service" message is now reset.
