Strange coincidence?

'99 9-3 SE cvt. Recently replaced my yellow fender blinkers with clear ones. Looks soooo much better. Walking back to the house I realised I forgot to lock it. What would normally have been a futile attempt I tried to lock it form about 25' away. It worked! Unlocked/locked a few more times from that distance no problem. Normally I have to be within 6' standing on one foot with my left index finger pointed up and northeast to get it to work. Now 8 out of 10 times it locks/unlocks from 20 or so feet. Where is the sensor or unit for the alarm/locking mechanism located? Could there be a connection? Or is it just a very strange coincidence
